Lake Malawi
Lake Malawi is the third largest lake in Africa and longest fresh water body in the world, lying at the southern most tip of the great African Rift Valley. It stretches through a distance of 570 km, offering a number of excellent holiday resorts on its beaches. With its width at some points as much as 80 km, it gives the impression of an open sea, but its waters are fresh and sparkling clear
Flying into Malawi International flights land at Kamuzu International Airport in the capital city, Lilongwe, or Blantyre, the commercial centre. All travelers pay an airport tax of US$ 30 when flying out of the country. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if traveling from an infected area.
Lake Malawi National Park
Lake Malawi National Park was declared an International Heritage site by UNESCO and is home to 500 species of fresh water fish and an abundance of birdlife.
Traveling over land Malawi has become a very popular staging for trans-Africa travelers. Many tour operators offer packages into and out of Malawi. There are luxury regular coach services connecting major cities in Malawi to Johannesburg.
Mulanje Mountain WHEN TO VISIT
Mount Mulanje is over 3000 metre above sea level and is a major attraction to both climbers and mountain walkers, offering most majestic sights in Malawi.
May to October are more comfortable because it is cool. November to April is also a good time to visit because Malawi is green.. The May to June months combine the best of both seasons – cooler, still green with great variety – and especially good for photography. Game viewing is best in the hottest times of the dry season, when animals visit water sources. Bird watchers enjoy their best sighting in October and November
Liwonde National Park
The Park is situated south of Lake Malawi, famous for its over 300 species of birds. The park boasts the Big Five mammals, namely elephant, hippo, rhino, lion and buffalo all within the park.

Nyika National Park
Nyika National Park is a plateau and grassland on an average altitude of 2600 m above sea level, and covering 3200 square kilometers. This is the most beautiful of Malawi’s parks, offering wild flowers and a variety of wildlife. It has the highest concentration of roan antelope in Africa, and home to herds of eland, zebra, reedbuck, bushbuck, kilspringer, duiker, warthog, bush pig and blue monkey.
